Frequently Asked Questions
How does a hands-free lead work?
It attaches around your waist via an adjustable waistband, so your dog stays securely connected while your hands stay free. There are clips and a hand loop too, so you can quickly take hold the traditional way whenever you need to.
Is a hands-free lead safe for a big, strong dog?
Honest answer: it depends on your dog. A hands-free lead is best for well-trained dogs who don't pull suddenly, because it gives you less instant control than a traditional lead. If your big dog is calm and responsive to voice commands, it's brilliant. If they're a strong puller or reactive, we'd steer you to a standard lead or head collar instead.
What can I actually use it for?
Jogging, running and hiking with a leash-trained dog, or everyday walks where you want your hands free — for a coffee, your phone, a stroller, or carrying gear. It's about making active walks easier, not about wrangling a dog who's still learning.
What sizes and styles are there?
Three options: Black – Large, Red – Medium, and Black and Beige – Medium. Choose based on your dog's size and your colour preference. The Large suits bigger breeds.
Will it tangle or dig in when I run?
The waistband is designed to sit comfortably and spread the load while you move, and the materials are chosen to resist tangling. As with any waist lead, a sudden hard pull will be felt — which is exactly why we only recommend it for dogs who walk and run calmly.
Can I use this for training a dog not to pull?
We wouldn't recommend it for that. A hands-free lead rewards a dog who's already got good lead manners — it's not a tool to fix pulling. For training, use a long line or head control collar first, then enjoy the hands-free lead once your dog's walking nicely.
